Forbes and many other outlets like to keep track of the world’s richest people. These people are often said to be either Warren Buffet or Bill Gates. However, the fact of the matter is that nobody really knows who the world’s richest people actually are – because most of the world’s wealth is hidden.

Where Is All the Wealth?

It’s important to understand that the real elites don’t report their wealth, and they have very sophisticated means of cloaking their activities. It is naive to think that we know the names of the world’s richest people.

There is no official trillionaire alive today. However, there are, no doubt, trillionaire figures outside of the public domain. It is just exceedingly difficult to verify that somebody is an official trillionaire at such a high level.

The same people who own the wealth are the same people who instruct the politicians with regard to what laws to draft. In a complex legal world that nobody understands, there are many ways to avoid paying too much in taxes and circumvent reporting requirements. A trillionaire has the power to conceal financial activities.
