Do you ever see a rich person and think “How did he get so rich? He’s crazy!” Well, that concept is not as weird as you think. There’s certainly a relationship between those with personality disorders and finding personal wealth. From lacking a conscience to having unrivaled confidence, in many ways, psychopaths make the perfect millionaire. So let’s examine this issue a little more closely and see the inner works of crazy, rich people.
PSYCHOPATHS LACK EMPATHY
Sadly, many rich people lack empathy. In a 2008 study from the University of Amsterdam and UC Berekely, those who exhibited less compassion tended to be wealthier. Furthermore, those same people valued others with powerful social connections and material assets. Anyone less than that didn’t deserve their attention.
PSYCHOPATHS THINK THEY ARE BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE
Sure, there are plenty of rich people that used their hard work ethic to get to the top. However, many people simply have good luck. Studies found that even if some people found wealth with luck, their ego still took over. They had this illusion that they were better than anyone and had more skill.
PSYCHOPATHS ARE CHARMING
Think about the world’s most famous serial killers. Everyone always describes them as “charming.” Well, it’s not that serial killers are such nice people. It’s that they are experts at creating the illusion of charm. Many rich people are the same way. They manipulate others with their fake personality in order to find success. On the inside, they’re anything but charming.
PSYCHOPATHS HAVE NO REMORSE
In the race to the top, sometimes you have to hurt people. In these instances, normal people feel remorse but not psychotic rich people. Not only will they feel no remorse when their actions cause harm, but they will also blame others for their actions.
PSYCHOPATHS HATE BOREDOM
Many psychotic people can’t stand being bored. It’s this quality that makes them live life in a hard and fast manner. It’s just more exciting. If channeled correctly, this attitude becomes highly productive. It’s no coincidence that rich people are often highly productive also. So if you’re someone who never gets bored, then you might never be rich. However, it also means you’re not psychotic. So, good work.
